HRS-8797 is an orally bioavailable small molecule Janus kinase 1 (JAK1) inhibitor developed by Chengdu Shengdi Pharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals. It is currently in Phase I clinical development for the treatment of inflammatory conditions, specifically atopic dermatitis. JAK1 is a key signaling component for several pro-inflammatory cytokines involved in the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis, including IL-4, IL-13, and IL-31. By selectively inhibiting JAK1, HRS-8797 aims to reduce skin inflammation and pruritus while potentially offering an improved safety profile compared to non-selective JAK inhibitors. The drug is being evaluated in healthy volunteers to assess its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics, as well as the effect of food on its absorption.
