Overview
This Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal compound is a combination of *Polygonum cuspidatum* (Huzhang), *Taraxacum* (Dandelion), *Sophora flavescens* (Kushen), and *Phellodendron* (Huangbai). Developed by the Shanghai Yueyang Integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine Hospital, it is formulated based on the TCM principle of "heat-clearing and dampness-promoting" (清热利湿). The compound is primarily investigated as an adjunctive postoperative analgesic therapy for patients undergoing hemorrhoid surgery. Its therapeutic effects are attributed to the anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties of its active constituents, such as resveratrol from Huzhang, matrine and oxymatrine from Sophora, and berberine from Phellodendron, which help reduce local edema and pain at the surgical site.
