Overview

IB409 is a first-in-class peptide therapeutic developed by Infensa Bioscience for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, specifically heart attack (myocardial infarction) and stroke. The drug is a miniaturized peptide derived from Hi1a, a protein found in the venom of the Australian funnel-web spider (*Hadronyche infensa*). IB409 works by inhibiting acid-sensing ion channel 1a (ASIC1a), which is its biological target. It is designed to protect against both ischemic and reperfusion tissue injury that occurs during heart attacks and strokes, addressing an unmet need as current therapies primarily focus on restoring blood flow without preventing subsequent tissue damage.
