IL-15–expressing CAR-T cell therapy is an adoptive cell therapy platform where T cells are genetically engineered to express both a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) and the cytokine interleukin-15 (IL-15). IL-15 is a critical factor for the survival, proliferation, and metabolic fitness of T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. By co-expressing IL-15, these CAR-T cells aim to overcome the limitations of poor persistence and exhaustion often observed in conventional CAR-T therapies, particularly within the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment.
