Imprime PGG is a yeast-derived, soluble beta-1,3/1,6-glucan that acts as a pathogen-associated molecular pattern (PAMP) to modulate the innate immune system. Developed by Biothera Pharmaceuticals (now HiberCell), it functions by binding to Complement Receptor 3 (CR3) on neutrophils and monocytes. This binding primes these innate immune cells, enabling them to recognize and kill tumor cells that have been opsonized by monoclonal antibodies or complement. It is primarily investigated in combination with tumor-targeting antibodies (such as rituximab or cetuximab) and immune checkpoint inhibitors to enhance their anti-tumor efficacy in various cancers, including non-Hodgkin lymphoma and solid tumors.
