Overview

Infliximab + tocilizumab is a combination of two monoclonal antibody biologic drugs, each targeting distinct pro-inflammatory cytokines involved in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Infliximab is a chimeric monoclonal antibody that binds and neutralizes tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), thereby reducing inflammation associated with conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, and plaque psoriasis[2][6]. Tocilizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor (both soluble and membrane-bound forms), inhibiting IL-6-mediated signaling pathways implicated in rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory disorders[1][5][8]. The combination of these agents may be considered for patients with refractory autoimmune or inflammatory diseases who have not responded adequately to monotherapy or conventional disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs). Both agents are administered via intravenous infusion under medical supervision due to risks including immunosuppression and increased infection susceptibility.
