JWCAR239 is an investigational autologous chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) therapy designed to treat relapsed or refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL)[1][2][4][7][10]. It works by collecting a patient's own T cells and genetically modifying them to express a CAR that targets both CD19 and CD20 antigens, which are commonly found on the surface of malignant B cells in lymphoma. By targeting both CD19 and CD20, JWCAR239 aims to overcome tumor escape mechanisms seen in single-target CAR-T therapies, potentially improving response rates and remission durability[2][7]. Patients receive lymphodepletion chemotherapy (cyclophosphamide and fludarabine) prior to a single infusion of JWCAR239. The therapy is being evaluated for safety, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and efficacy in adults with aggressive or recurring B-cell malignancies who have exhausted standard treatments. The therapy is under development at Peking University Cancer Hospital in collaboration with Shanghai JW Therapeutics[2].
