Overview

KAD101 is a novel biologic drug developed by Kaida BioPharma for the treatment of gynecologic cancers, with an initial focus on ovarian cancer. It functions as a prolactin receptor antagonist, blocking the prolactin receptor to prevent cancer cell growth signals and induce autophagy (programmed cell death) in tumor cells. The drug also inhibits the Janus kinase 2 pathway—crucial for cancer cell proliferation—and downregulates Glutathione S-transferase enzyme activity, which may help overcome chemoresistance in patients who have failed prior therapies. KAD101 has demonstrated promising results in early human clinical studies, showing tumor reduction and a favorable safety profile as a daily injectable. The improved formulation offers an extended half-life to reduce injection frequency and enhance efficacy. The drug is advancing toward Phase 1 clinical trials expected to begin in 2025[1][4][5][6].
