Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Keltican Forte is an oral nutritional supplement and food for special medical purposes (FSMP) specifically designed to support the management and regeneration of peripheral nerve damage. Developed and manufactured by Trommsdorff (a subsidiary of Dermapharm), the formulation combines uridine monophosphate (UMP), vitamin B12, and folic acid. UMP acts as a critical nucleotide building block for the synthesis of phospholipids and glycolipids, which are essential components of nerve cell membranes and the myelin sheath. During nerve injury or degeneration, the demand for these substrates increases; Keltican Forte aims to provide these precursors to facilitate axonal and myelin repair. Vitamin B12 and folic acid are included as essential cofactors that support cell division, DNA synthesis, and the overall maintenance of nervous system function. It is commonly utilized in the management of conditions such as spinal syndromes (sciatica, herniated discs), neuralgias, and various forms of polyneuropathy.
