LSA3-FL is a first-generation recombinant protein vaccine developed by Vac4All targeting the liver stage (pre-erythrocytic stage) of *Plasmodium falciparum* malaria. The vaccine is based on the full-length Liver Stage Antigen 3 (LSA3) protein and is part of Vac4All's STOPMAL vaccine program, which aims to block sporozoite and liver stages of the malaria parasite following a mosquito bite. In Phase 1 clinical trials, LSA3-FL demonstrated safety and immunogenicity in humans, and proof-of-concept studies in chimpanzees showed protection against *P. falciparum* sporozoite challenges up to one year after immunization. However, the first-generation prototype induced immune responses that were found to be restricted by the presence of regulatory regions on the vaccine construct, leading Vac4All to design second-generation candidates with these regions removed to enhance immune response magnitude and duration.
