LUCAR-20SP is an allogeneic (off-the-shelf) chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy being developed by the Peking University Cancer Hospital & Institute. It is designed to treat patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The therapy consists of donor-derived T cells that have been genetically modified to express a CAR targeting CD20, a protein found on the surface of B-cell lymphomas. Unlike autologous CAR-T therapies, which use a patient's own cells and require a lengthy manufacturing process, this allogeneic approach uses pre-manufactured cells from healthy donors, potentially allowing for immediate treatment availability. LUCAR-20SP is currently being evaluated in a Phase I clinical trial to determine its safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy in adult patients.
