LUCAR-E9D is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy engineered to simultaneously target the CD19 and CD20 antigens on B cells. Developed primarily for the treatment of relapsed or refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma, this autologous cell therapy aims to address the challenge of antigen escape—a common mechanism of resistance where tumor cells lose expression of a single target (such as CD19) to evade immune detection. By incorporating dual antigen-binding domains, LUCAR-E9D provides a more robust recognition of malignant B cells, potentially leading to deeper and more durable clinical responses. The therapy is currently in early-stage clinical development to evaluate its safety profile and therapeutic potential in patients who have exhausted standard treatment options.
