Overview

LUCAR-G39D is a first-in-class, allogeneic chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) gamma delta (γδ) T-cell therapy designed to dually target CD19 and CD20 antigens on B-cell malignancies. Developed by Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital in collaboration with Legend Biotech, it utilizes donor-derived γδ T cells, which recognize antigens independently of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC), thereby reducing the risk of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and enabling an "off-the-shelf" manufacturing process. The therapy is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials (NCT06395870) for patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL), including diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma, and follicular lymphoma.
