Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MB01 (also known as RTXM83) is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody to rituximab, developed by mAbxience. It targets the CD20 antigen, a protein primarily expressed on the surface of B lymphocytes. Upon binding to CD20, MB01 induces B-cell depletion through several mechanisms, including antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC), and the induction of apoptosis. MB01 is approved for the treatment of B-cell malignancies, specifically non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). First launched in 2014, it was the first biosimilar monoclonal antibody developed in South America and has demonstrated clinical equivalence to the reference product, Rituxan/MabThera.
