Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of mesalazine and ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA). This combination has shown better therapeutic effects than mesalazine alone in patients with ulcerative colitis, possibly due to changes in the IL-23-IL-17 axis and beneficial alterations in intestinal microflora distribution. The combination therapy results in lower levels of inflammatory markers and improved clinical outcomes as measured by Mayo scores and Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire scores.
