miR-4486 mimic is a synthetic, double-stranded RNA molecule designed to replicate the biological activity of the endogenous microRNA hsa-miR-4486. Functioning as a tumor suppressor, miR-4486 is often downregulated in various malignancies, including bladder cancer and gastric cancer. The mimic exerts its therapeutic effect by binding to the 3' untranslated regions (UTRs) of specific oncogenic mRNAs, most notably Janus kinase 1 (JAK1) and Wnt family member 5A (WNT5A). This binding leads to the suppression of the JAK1/STAT3 and Wnt signaling pathways, which in turn inhibits cell proliferation, migration, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Currently, miR-4486 mimics are primarily utilized in preclinical research to explore miRNA-based therapeutic strategies for solid tumors and inflammatory conditions.
