A therapeutic cancer vaccine designed to target tumors with mutations in the KRAS gene, which is a driving force in many cancers. This vaccine works by activating immune cells that specifically target different KRAS mutations, particularly KRAS-G12D and KRAS-G12R, which drive approximately 90% of KRAS-mutated cancers. The vaccine contains synthesized peptides (short chains of amino acids) that can launch immune cells to target cancer cells with these mutations. It is administered as an injection in four places—one in each arm and leg, with the peptides traveling to nearby lymph nodes to generate an immune response. Unlike some other cancer vaccines that are custom-made for each patient using mRNA technology, this KRAS vaccine is designed to be more accessible, faster to administer, and less expensive.
