MWTX-3011 is a monoclonal antibody inhibitor of C1s, a serine protease in the classical complement pathway, being developed by Mabwell Therapeutics. The drug is designed to modulate the activation cascade of the classical complement pathway by targeting C1s, which is typically triggered by autoantibody engagement with self-antigens. By inhibiting this pathway, MWTX-3011 has the potential to address a broad range of rare autoimmune and complement-mediated disorders, including immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) and neuromyelitis optica (NMO). MWTX-3011 is engineered with an improved pharmacokinetic profile intended to provide a best-in-class opportunity with a superior clinical dosing regimen compared to sutimlimab, the first FDA-approved anti-C1s antibody. It is currently in the IND-enabling phase of development.
