Overview

MYOS Vet is a veterinary-exclusive nutraceutical supplement developed by MYOS Corporation to support muscle health and mitigate muscle loss in animals, including dogs, cats, and horses. Its primary active ingredient is Fortetropin, a proprietary, non-thermally processed fertilized egg yolk powder. Fortetropin acts by reducing circulating levels of myostatin, a protein that inhibits muscle growth, while simultaneously activating the mTOR pathway to promote muscle protein synthesis and downregulating the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway to reduce muscle protein degradation. It is clinically utilized to address sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss), support recovery from orthopedic surgery (such as CCL repair), and improve mobility in geriatric or injured veterinary patients. The product line includes specialized formulations such as Vet Strength, which includes branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), and MYOS PLUS, which incorporates joint support ingredients like green-lipped mussel and eggshell membrane.
