Overview

This is a combination of three agents—n-acetylcysteine (NAC), thiamine (vitamin B1), and vitamin C (ascorbic acid)—used together primarily for their antioxidant, cytoprotective, and supportive metabolic effects. NAC acts as a precursor to glutathione, replenishing intracellular stores and providing potent antioxidant activity; it also has mucolytic properties and is FDA-approved for acetaminophen overdose. Thiamine is an essential cofactor in carbohydrate metabolism and energy production, while vitamin C functions as an antioxidant, supports immune function, enhances iron absorption, and participates in collagen synthesis. The combination has been explored in critical care settings such as sepsis due to potential synergistic effects on oxidative stress reduction, organ protection, and modulation of the inflammatory cascade[2][3]. There are case reports suggesting this combination may delay progression of sepsis by improving tissue oxygenation and hepatic function[2]. Each component has established uses individually but the fixed triple combination does not have a unique brand or regulatory approval.
