Neocarb

Neocarb is a platinum-based antineoplastic chemotherapy injection containing the active ingredient carboplatin. It is manufactured and marketed by Bangalore Pharmaceutical and Research Laboratory (BPRL) Pharmaceuticals, having been acquired from Biological E in 2005. As a small molecule DNA alkylating agent, Neocarb works by penetrating cancer cell walls and binding to DNA to produce interstrand cross-links. These cross-links inhibit DNA replication and transcription, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Neocarb is primarily indicated for the treatment of advanced ovarian carcinoma and small-cell lung cancer. It is administered as an intravenous injection and is often utilized as a less toxic alternative to cisplatin, particularly regarding renal and neurological side effects.
