This is a combination immunotherapy approach that utilizes natural killer (NK) cell therapy together with monoclonal antibody (mAb) therapy, primarily for cancer treatment. Monoclonal antibodies bind to specific antigens on tumor cells and engage NK cells via the Fc gamma receptor IIIa (CD16a), triggering antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC). This mechanism allows NK cells to recognize and kill antibody-coated tumor cells. Combining adoptive transfer or engineering of NK cells with mAbs can enhance anti-tumor efficacy, overcome resistance seen in some cancers, and improve clinical outcomes compared to mAbs alone. The approach is under investigation in various clinical trials for different cancer types[1][2][4].
