OKT3 + acyclovir

OKT3 + acyclovir is a combination therapy consisting of two distinct drugs: - **OKT3 (muromonab-CD3)** is a murine monoclonal antibody that targets the CD3 receptor on human T lymphocytes. It is used as an immunosuppressive agent to prevent and treat acute organ transplant rejection by depleting or modulating T cells[10][6][8]. - **Acyclovir** is a synthetic nucleoside analog antiviral drug that inhibits viral DNA polymerase, thereby blocking replication of herpesviruses such as herpes simplex virus (HSV) and varicella-zoster virus (VZV)[1][7][9]. The combination of OKT3 with prophylactic oral acyclovir has been studied in transplant recipients to reduce the risk of herpesvirus reactivation and infection during periods of intense immunosuppression induced by OKT3[2][4]. Acyclovir may also help reduce the risk of posttransplantation lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) associated with high-dose immunosuppression[4].
