Overview
PG-018 is an orally administered small molecule inhibitor targeting Janus kinase 1 (JAK1). It is being developed primarily for the treatment of membranous glomerulonephritis (also known as membranous nephropathy), a kidney disorder characterized by changes and inflammation in the structures of the kidney that help filter wastes and fluids. The drug acts by selectively inhibiting JAK1, a tyrosine-protein kinase involved in cytokine signaling pathways that regulate immune responses. By blocking JAK1 activity, PG-018 aims to modulate immune system activity implicated in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The developer and main sponsor for clinical trials is Beijing Puqi Pharmaceutical Technology Co Ltd., with development also referenced under Prime Gene Therapeutics[1][2][3][8].
