Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Povorcitinib is an orally administered small molecule that acts as a selective Janus kinase 1 (JAK1) inhibitor. It is being developed primarily for the treatment of moderate to severe hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), but is also under investigation for prurigo nodularis, nonsegmental vitiligo, chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU), and asthma. Povorcitinib works by selectively inhibiting JAK1, a key enzyme involved in inflammatory and immune signaling pathways implicated in these diseases. Clinical trials have demonstrated significant efficacy in reducing disease activity and symptoms in HS patients with a favorable safety profile. The drug was developed by Incyte.
