Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pumecitinib is an oral small molecule inhibitor of Janus kinase 1 (JAK1). It is being developed for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, particularly rheumatoid arthritis. Pumecitinib selectively inhibits JAK1, a key enzyme involved in the signaling pathways of various pro-inflammatory cytokines implicated in immune-mediated diseases. By blocking JAK1 activity, pumecitinib reduces inflammation and modulates immune responses. The drug has been investigated primarily by South Korean pharmaceutical companies and has undergone clinical trials for rheumatoid arthritis.
