Overview
Qing-re-liang-xue decoction is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula used for conditions attributed to "blood-heat" syndrome, most notably psoriasis vulgaris. [3, 16] The name translates to "clear heat and cool blood," which describes its therapeutic principle in TCM. Clinical studies suggest the decoction exerts anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative effects. Mechanistically, it has been shown to reduce serum levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and inhibit various inflammatory pathways and cytokines, including the IL-6/STAT3 and JAK-STAT pathways, TNF-α, IL-17, and IL-23. [12, 13, 16, 21] Besides psoriasis, it has also been investigated for its potential therapeutic effects in Kawasaki disease and atopic dermatitis. [19, 21]
