Overview
Qing-Wen Bai-Du-Yin (also known as Qingwen Baidu Decoction) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation historically used to treat severe epidemic warm-heat diseases, sepsis, and acute lung injury. It is composed of multiple herbal ingredients, including Gypsum Fibrosum, Cornu Bubali, Radix Rehmanniae, Rhizoma Coptidis, Fructus Gardeniae, Radix Platycodonis, Radix Scutellariae, Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, Radix Paeoniae Rubra, Radix Scrophulariae, Fructus Forsythiae, Herba Lophatheri, Cortex Moutan Radicis, and Radix Glycyrrhizae. The formula is traditionally characterized by its heat-clearing, detoxifying, and blood-cooling properties. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it was evaluated in clinical trials as an adjunctive therapy combined with standard antiviral regimens to improve clinical outcomes and alleviate pneumonia symptoms.
