Qingmai Granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Institute of Vascular Diseases at the Tianjin Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (Nankai Hospital). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of chronic peripheral vascular diseases, such as thromboangiitis obliterans (Buerger's disease) and arteriosclerosis obliterans. The formula is designed to clear heat, detoxify, and promote blood circulation. Beyond its primary vascular indications, research has demonstrated that Qingmai Granule possesses hepatoprotective properties, particularly against liver damage induced by ischemia-reperfusion or chemical toxins. Its mechanism of action involves the inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), and the suppression of the NF-kappaB signaling pathway, thereby reducing oxidative stress and inflammatory tissue injury.
