A rabbit-derived monoclonal antibody targeting the CD28 co-stimulatory receptor on T cells, developed by FUJIFILM. Discovered using proprietary DNA immunization and rabbit B cell cloning technologies, these antibodies are designed to act as agonists that recognize diverse epitopes compared to standard mouse-derived antibodies. They are primarily utilized as part of a T cell activator (often conjugated to magnetic beads alongside anti-CD3 antibodies) during the ex vivo manufacturing of CAR-T cell therapies. The primary goal of this antibody is to promote T cell proliferation while maintaining an undifferentiated memory T cell state (stem cell memory and central memory subsets) and preventing cellular exhaustion, thereby enhancing the potential therapeutic efficacy of the final cell therapy product.
