Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Raddeanin A is a **natural triterpenoid saponin** isolated from the roots of *Anemone raddeana*, a traditional Chinese medicinal herb. Raddeanin A exhibits potent **anticancer and antiangiogenic activities**, impeding proliferation, inducing apoptosis, and suppressing invasion in numerous human tumor cells, including hepatocellular carcinoma, gastric cancer, non-small cell lung carcinoma, prostate cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, and breast cancer. Its **mechanisms of action** include enhancement of natural killer (NK) cell cytotoxicity via modulation of the MAPK (ERK, p38, JNK) and Ras/Raf/MEK signaling pathways, induction of apoptosis through both caspase-dependent and caspase-independent mechanisms, and **inhibition of angiogenesis** through blockade of VEGFR2 and downstream kinases (PLCγ1, JAK2, FAK, Src, Akt). Raddeanin A also inhibits osteoclastogenesis, reducing tumor-associated bone osteolysis, and can downregulate androgen receptor signaling in prostate cancer cells[1][2][3][5].
