RG002 is a name used for at least three distinct investigational drugs in clinical development in China, each with different mechanisms and indications. The most prominent and advanced is an mRNA-based therapeutic vaccine developed by RinuaGene Biotechnology for the treatment of human papillomavirus (HPV) type 16 or 18-related cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN2/3) and other HPV-associated malignancies. This vaccine uses lipid nanoparticle-encapsulated mRNA to stimulate an immune response against HPV antigens, functioning as an immunostimulant. It has received FDA IND approval and is currently in Phase I/II clinical trials[1][3][8]. Another drug named RG002, developed by Rigerna Therapeutics, is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) targeting complement component C3 for the treatment of complement-mediated glomerular diseases such as IgA nephropathy; this candidate utilizes proprietary kidney-targeting delivery technology and is in Phase I trials[4][7]. A third unrelated compound called RG-002 has been described as a fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) antagonist small molecule under investigation for advanced solid tumors by Shanghai Lingji Biotechnology[2]. There are also references to an HIV integrase inhibitor named RG-002 from Renjing Biotechnology[5], but this appears less prominent.
