Overview

Rituximab + chemotherapy refers to the combination of the anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody rituximab with one or more cytotoxic chemotherapy agents. The most common regimens include R-CHOP (rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone) or R-EPOCH (rituximab, etoposide, prednisone, vincristine, cyclophosphamide, and doxorubicin), used primarily for treating B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas (including diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and follicular lymphoma) and sometimes in B-cell acute leukemia and other indications[1][3][5][7]. Rituximab targets the CD20 antigen on B cells, mediating their destruction by complement-dependent cytotoxicity, antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity, and direct induction of apoptosis, while the chemotherapy drugs act through diverse mechanisms to disrupt DNA synthesis, cell division, and cellular metabolism[5][7]. This combination is typically given intravenously and is considered a standard of care for various aggressive and indolent lymphomas.
