Overview
JHL1101 is a biosimilar of rituximab, a chimeric monoclonal antibody that targets the CD20 antigen on B lymphocytes. Rituximab works primarily through mechanisms such as antibody-dependent cell cytotoxicity and complement-dependent cytotoxicity, leading to the depletion of B cells. JHL1101 was developed to provide a more affordable alternative to the original biologic for indications including non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (notably diffuse large B-cell lymphoma), chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and rheumatoid arthritis. The drug was developed by JHL Biotech (now Eden Biologics) and Sanofi. Clinical trials compared its efficacy and safety with reference rituximab in combination with standard chemotherapy regimens like CHOP for DLBCL[2][5][7].
