rMBP-NAP is a recombinant fusion protein consisting of the *Helicobacter pylori* neutrophil activating protein (Hp-NAP) fused with the maltose-binding protein (MBP) of *Escherichia coli*. It acts as a Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) agonist, exerting potent immunomodulatory and anti-tumor effects. By triggering TLR2 signaling, rMBP-NAP promotes the activation and infiltration of CD4+ Th1 and CD8+ Tc1 cells, increases the production of cytokines like IFN-gamma (IFN-γ) and interleukin-27 (IL-27), and reduces the recruitment of immunosuppressive myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) and regulatory T cells (Tregs) to the tumor microenvironment. Additionally, it has been shown to inhibit tumor vascularization as evidenced by reduced CD34 expression. Developed by researchers at Zhengzhou University, rMBP-NAP has demonstrated efficacy in preclinical mouse models of metastatic melanoma, hepatoma, and sarcoma.
