Overview

This combination therapy consists of topical ruxolitinib 1.5% cream and epidermal cell suspension grafting, investigated by the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nice (CHU Nice) for the treatment of resistant non-segmental vitiligo. Ruxolitinib is a small molecule inhibitor of Janus kinase 1 (JAK1) and Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) that works by inhibiting the JAK-STAT signaling pathway, thereby reducing the immune-mediated destruction of pigment-producing melanocytes. In this specific protocol, the epidermal cell suspension (provided by Cutiss) is grafted onto resistant vitiligo lesions, followed by the application of ruxolitinib cream to promote repigmentation and prevent the loss of newly grafted melanocytes. This investigator-initiated Phase 2 study (NCT05872477) specifically targets challenging anatomical locations such as the hands, feet, and bony prominences that are often resistant to conventional therapies.
