Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ruyong Formula (RYF) is a traditional Chinese herbal formula composed of 10 herbs, used primarily as an adjunctive therapy for breast cancer patients experiencing depressive symptoms in China. It has demonstrated effects on improving thymus function and immune modulation in preclinical models of breast cancer with comorbid depression or anxiety. Mechanistically, RYF appears to restore thymic structure and function by reversing phenotypic changes in thymic epithelial cells (TECs) and activating the JAK2/STAT3/PI3K signaling pathway. This leads to increased output of T cell subsets, improved immune-related factor expression, and normalization of neurotransmitter levels such as serotonin (5-HT). The precise pharmacological mechanism remains under investigation[1].
