SAF-1 antisense shRNA is a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) designed to target and silence the expression of Serum Amyloid A-Activating Factor-1 (SAF-1), also known as Myc-Associated Zinc Finger Protein (MAZ). Developed primarily as a research tool by researchers at the University of Missouri, this RNA interference (RNAi) agent is used to investigate the role of the SAF-1 transcription factor in chronic inflammation, angiogenesis, and cancer progression. In preclinical breast cancer models, knockdown of SAF-1 using this shRNA significantly downregulates the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and Ras (H-Ras and K-Ras), leading to the inhibition of tumor-induced angiogenesis, endothelial cell proliferation, and tumor growth.
