Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SaiLuoTong (SLT) is a standardized, complex traditional Chinese medicine developed for cognitive impairment, particularly vascular dementia (VaD). It is a capsule formulation containing standardized extracts of *Panax ginseng* (ginseng), *Ginkgo biloba*, and *Crocus sativus* (saffron). [3, 7] It was primarily developed by China's Shineway Pharmaceutical in collaboration with academic institutions. [4, 19] Outside of China, it is marketed by the Singapore-based company Moleac under the brand name CognivAiD. [1, 2] Clinical studies, including Phase 2 and Phase 3 trials, have investigated its efficacy and safety in improving cognitive function, executive function, and memory in patients with vascular dementia and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). [4, 6, 14] The drug is believed to work through multiple mechanisms, including improving cerebral blood flow, providing neuroprotection, reducing neuroinflammation, exerting antioxidant effects, and promoting the clearance of amyloid-beta (Aβ). [3, 7, 9] A Phase 3 trial for VaD in China completed in 2024, with potential market approval anticipated for 2026. [11, 16]
