Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Salvianolic acids injection (also known as salvianolic acids for injection or SAFI) is a traditional Chinese medicine preparation developed by the Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Tasly. It is extracted and purified from the root of *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen) and is primarily composed of water-soluble phenolic acids, including salvianolic acid B, rosmarinic acid, lithospermic acid, salvianolic acid D, and salvianolic acid Y. Approved in China in 2011, salvianolic acids injection is indicated for the treatment of mild-to-moderate acute cerebral infarction (ischemic stroke) during the recovery phase. It exerts neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, and anti-platelet aggregation effects, primarily by inhibiting microglial activation, suppressing the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway, and downregulating inflammatory mediators such as PTGS1 and PTGS2.
