Overview

SCO-006 is a first-in-class, orally available small molecule inhibitor of inositol hexakisphosphate kinase (IP6K), specifically targeting the isoforms IP6K1, IP6K2, and IP6K3. Developed by SCOHIA PHARMA, it works by inhibiting the production of inositol pyrophosphates (InsP7), which are key regulators of cellular phosphate export. By modulating these pathways, SCO-006 aims to reduce plasma phosphate levels and improve kidney function, making it a potential treatment for hyperphosphatemia associated with chronic kidney disease. Additionally, it is being investigated for the treatment of ovarian clear cell carcinoma. The compound was previously known as SC-919 in scientific literature and was recognized with the Boehringer Ingelheim Innovation Prize in 2021.
