Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SER-214 is a small molecule antagonist of the Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) receptor, currently in preclinical development by Serentrix for the treatment of Irritable Bowel Diseases (IBD). TRPV1 is a non-selective cation channel involved in the transmission of pain and inflammatory signals. Unlike earlier generations of TRPV1 antagonists that were associated with adverse hyperthermic effects, SER-214 is specifically designed to block TRPV1 activity while maintaining normal body temperature regulation.
