Overview

SND4 is a preclinical-stage small molecule D-amino acid oxidase (DAAO) inhibitor developed by SyneuRx for the treatment of adult schizophrenia. DAAO is an enzyme responsible for the degradation of D-amino acids, including D-serine, which acts as a crucial co-agonist at the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor. By inhibiting DAAO, SND4 aims to increase the levels of D-serine in the brain, thereby enhancing NMDA receptor function and addressing the glutamatergic hypofunction associated with the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. The drug is currently in the preclinical phase of development.
