SNT-8370 is a small molecule dual inhibitor of myeloperoxidase (MPO) and semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase (SSAO), currently in IND-enabling development by Syntara Limited for the treatment of inflammatory diseases. By simultaneously targeting these two distinct pro-inflammatory pathways, SNT-8370 is designed to reduce oxidative stress and amine-oxidation-driven inflammatory damage. MPO is an enzyme primarily expressed in neutrophils that generates reactive oxygen species, while SSAO (also known as Vascular Adhesion Protein-1 or VAP-1) is involved in leukocyte recruitment and the production of inflammatory byproducts like hydrogen peroxide and aldehydes. The compound represents Syntara's strategy of leveraging oxidase enzyme chemistry to develop disease-modifying therapies for chronic inflammation.
