Solcitinib (GLPG0778) is a small molecule drug developed as a selective Janus kinase 1 (JAK1) inhibitor. It was originally discovered by Galapagos in collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline and advanced for the treatment of immuno-inflammatory diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), chronic plaque psoriasis, ulcerative colitis and rheumatoid arthritis. The drug demonstrated dose-dependent and selective suppression of induced inflammatory responses in early clinical studies by inhibiting its target kinase in vivo. Solcitinib reached Phase II clinical trials but development was halted after interim data failed to show sufficient efficacy in some indications[1][2][3][9].
