Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Superactive leptin antagonist (SLA) is a recombinant protein mutant of leptin designed to act as a potent competitive antagonist of the leptin receptor (LEPR). Developed by researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and produced by Protein Laboratories Rehovot, SLA contains specific mutations (such as D23L/L39A/D40A/F41A) that dramatically increase its binding affinity to the leptin receptor while completely blocking downstream signaling. SLA is widely used as a research reagent to induce central and peripheral leptin resistance in animal models, facilitating the study of leptin's role in metabolic regulation, obesity, type 2 diabetes, inflammation, and cancer.
