Sym003

Sym003 is a recombinant polyclonal antibody (rpAb) candidate developed by Symphogen for the prevention and treatment of *Haemophilus influenzae* type b (Hib) infections. Utilizing Symphogen's proprietary Symplex technology, Sym003 consists of a diverse mixture of recombinant antibodies that target multiple epitopes on the Hib capsular polysaccharide, specifically polyribosylribitol phosphate (PRP). This polyclonal approach is designed to mimic the natural human immune response more effectively than monoclonal antibodies, enhancing bacterial clearance through opsonophagocytosis and complement-mediated lysis. Sym003 was primarily investigated as a passive immunization strategy for individuals who are immunocompromised or fail to respond to traditional Hib vaccines, as well as for rapid post-exposure prophylaxis. Development of the candidate was discontinued in the early stages as the developer shifted its strategic focus toward oncology.
