Overview

TAR001 is a first-in-class Targeted Apoptotic Immune Modulator (TAIM) developed by TargImmune Therapeutics for the treatment of various solid tumors. Utilizing the proprietary Ta:RNA technology platform, TAR001 consists of a non-viral nanoparticle vector that selectively delivers viral-like double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) to cancer cells overexpressing the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Once inside the tumor cell, the dsRNA mimics a viral infection, triggering the host's innate antiviral defense mechanisms and inducing selective apoptosis. Simultaneously, the dsRNA is designed to reduce or silence EGFR expression through an RNA interference (RNAi) mechanism. TAR001 is currently in IND-enabling development for multiple indications, including non-small cell lung cancer, colorectal cancer, head and neck cancer, pancreatic cancer, and triple-negative breast cancer.
