Overview

TARN-D is a preclinical-stage small molecule being developed by Tarn Biosciences for the treatment of tuberculosis (TB) and non-tuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) infections. The drug is designed to target nitroreductase, an enzyme class within mycobacteria. In the context of mycobacterial therapy, nitroreductases are often involved in the metabolic activation of certain classes of antimicrobials or are essential for bacterial redox homeostasis. TARN-D represents a novel approach to addressing mycobacterial pathogens, including potentially drug-resistant strains, by modulating this specific enzymatic pathway.
