Overview

TPS3A is a homogeneous polysaccharide isolated and purified from Tianzhu Xianyue fried green tea. Structurally, it is a high-molecular-weight complex (1.596 × 10^4 kDa) primarily composed of arabinose, galactose, galacturonic acid, and rhamnose in a molar ratio of 5.84: 4.15: 2.06: 1. In preclinical models of atherosclerosis using ApoE-deficient mice, TPS3A has demonstrated the ability to delay atherosclerotic plaque progression and modulate dyslipidemia. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting the phenotypic transition of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) from a contractile to a synthetic state, specifically by upregulating the contractile marker alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and downregulating the synthetic marker osteopontin (OPN).
